For me "A Canary's Tale" was very important. When I red the book in 1996 I knew what I had to do in future. Ingrid Scherrmann --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jacob B. Berkson A Canary's Tale People get sick from exposure to toxic chemicals in the home, in the workplace, indoors and outdoors. They sometimes suffer silently while the joy of life is diminished, while their careers are ended, and the body mechanisms become dysfunctional. And they do not realize there is a link between chemical exposure and disease. Many of these illnesses are preventable. Education is the key to prevention. The author, a trial lawyer who was poisoned in his own home by exposure to a so called "safe pestizide", takes the reader on an eight-year Odyssey of experience, study, and research about the effect the environment has upon the people on this planet. He produces clear and convincing evidence that there is a link between what is called "low level" exposure to thousands of chemicals, indoors and outdoors, and adverse health effects, between chemical exposure and disease, including cancer, asthma, emphysema and other respiratory diseases, and multipie chemical sensitivity (MCS). MCS is controversial and the American Medical Association does not recognize it as a disease A Canary's Tale was written to help establish recognition of0 MCS as a valid disease, syndrome,or illness. Just how large a problem exists is not known at this time. But everyone is at risk. No one is safe. Not the author. Not the reader. Not anyone. The patient with MCS is like the canary in the coal mine. The canary is warning humanity that the environment is polluted and as a sentinel sounds the Call for Action. The enemies are real---industry has failed to protect the public. The Congress has rallied to protect the polluters who are their big campaign contributors, the Environmental Presidents have failed to, use the influence of their bully pulpit to educate the public, and the public has failed to protect itself. To read A Canarys Tale is to recognize the danger, especially to our children and future generations, and do something about it before it is too late. No cause is more important. @ 1996 Jacob B.
